As of May 22, 2001, this ancestry file contains 2148 individuals and 874 marriages, going back fifteen generations, to my 12th great grandfather John Curtis, born about 1480 in Nazeing, Essex, England.
Many thanks to my Dad, George Curtis Gibby, and his cousin Joyce Elaine Harrington for a pile of records from applications made by my grandmother, Grace Curtis Hall, to the National Society of Old Plymouth Colony Descendants and the Daughters of the American Revolution.
Also many thanks to my grandfather, George Stuart Gibby, for all the work he did before me and continues to do. I hope to be able to tell his stories as well as he does. From outside the immediate family, thanks also to Marjorie J Jodoin, from which I gained many Milton names and relations.
James McHugh was a terrific help on the Curtis line. His work can be seen beginning with Christopher Curtis (b 1781). He corrected a serious error in the line.
Thanks to all! There are still more than a few holes to fill, but that's what it's all about. Filling in the blanks. Do you know who you come from? Ask those who know while you still can - chances are, somebody in your family has a pile of papers, or an old Bible, or stories to tell. Ask for those who won't be able to.
